Preschool Programs

Preschool programs are presented once a month for families of 3-5 year olds at the Calusa Nature Center. These monthly programs are included with regular admission, and are not reflected in the pricing on the following page. Call (239) 275-3435 for more details .

Preschool programs can also be scheduled individually or a series for your group. All programs are one hour in length, and generally involve a story, a craft, and other activities. All of these programs feature live animals; if you do not wish for us to bring live animals, please notify us at the time of scheduling. These programs are recommended for children ages 3-5, and can accommodate no more than 30 children. Larger groups may be divided into multiple sessions.

Animal Autographs
Walk like a deer, waddle like a duck, and bound like a fox! We will investigate a number of animal tracks and make tracks of our own on this excellent adventure.

Baby Animals
Let’s find out what animals look like when they are young. We will also learn about growing up in the animal world.

Buggy Fun
Play some buggy games, read a buggy story, and make your own bugs!

Butterflies
Learn about the ways of life of both butterflies and caterpillars in this fun program. Make a colorful butterfly of your own to take home.

Camouflaged Critters
A big word for such wee little ones! We will learn about why some animals are just so hard to see.

Give a Hoot for Birds
Some feathered friends will join us today to learn about our friends with beaks and wings.

Herp Herp Hooray
Discover the world of reptiles and amphibians (herptiles). Through hands-on activities, a fun scaly craft, and story time, learn about these fascinating animals. Also, meet some of the Nature Center’s resident herptiles.
